Though their relationship kept budding on the fan-favorite reality series, not even their showmance\u2014and Rome\u2019s public declaration of love for Lyric\u2014could save him from being voted out on Thursday\u2019s live eviction episode. He was sent home after a 12\u20131 vote, with Taylor Brown being the only houseguest voting to save him.<\/p>\n

During an exit interview with Entertainment Weekly<\/a>, Rome got candid about how Lyric\u2019s vote \u201cstung,\u201d but ultimately understood that she had to play her best game, no matter the betrayal.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always told her, \u2018Do what\u2019s best for your game at the end of the day. I don\u2019t want you having a huge target on your back because of me.\u2019 That\u2019s why we were trying to separate here and there inside the house. But when she told me to my face that she was gonna vote for me no matter who was next to me, I believed her,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Rome continued, \u201cAnd it stung a little bit seeing that the vote wasn\u2019t from her. But then after a little reflection, I understand fully. She needed to gain some sway with the other side. It\u2019s all good. All\u2019s forgotten. No love lost.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for his grand gesture, telling Lyric he loved her in front of the whole house? It came nearly a week after Lyric predicted it on the July 15 live feeds.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere during his EW interview, Rome also claimed their PDA wasn\u2019t premeditated, admitting that it would have happened whether he won the Blockbuster or not.<\/p>\n

\u201cEither I won the Blockbuster, she was gonna run into my arms, and we were gonna kiss there, or if I was getting kicked out of the house, it was gonna be a big show in front of everybody,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
