ROME, N.Y. — Chobani\u2019s $1.2 billion facility expansion announcement in Pennsylvania has the Oneida County executive releasing a statement on the current state of the Rome plant that the yogurt giant is building.<\/p>\n

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro announced in a social media post today, “We just secured a HUGE deal with Chobani to build their first dairy manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania\u2014the largest single investment in PA Agriculture EVER.”<\/p>\n

“This $1.2 BILLION investment will create over 900 jobs over the next five years\u2014and at full operation, Chobani will purchase 30% of the milk produced in Pennsylvania, supporting our dairy farmers for decades to come,” according to the governor’s announcement.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente said that the PA facility purchase “will have absolutely no effect on the plans for its future multi-billion-dollar natural food plant in Rome.”<\/p>\n

\u201cToday\u2019s announcement that Chobani has purchased a manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania will have absolutely no effect on the plans for its future multi-billion-dollar natural food plant in Rome. When Chobani leadership visited last month, this purchase was discussed as a positive addition to their portfolio that will make different products than those that will be produced here.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn fact, I spoke with CEO Hamdi Ulukaya just yesterday about his excitement over how things are progressing at Griffiss.
