ROME, N.Y. — Construction has started on a new roundabout and noise wall along St. Rt. 825 to support Chobani\u2019s planned dairy processing facility at the Triangle Site in the City of Rome.<\/p>\n
According to Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente, the project is part of ongoing site and infrastructure work at the County-owned Triangle Site at Griffiss International Airport, using both County and New York State funding.<\/p>\n
Picente said, \u201cThis project represents another major step forward in preparing the Triangle Site for Chobani\u2019s transformative investment in our community. The construction of this roundabout and noise wall not only supports the infrastructure needs of this world-class facility and site but also ensures we are doing so in a way that prioritizes safety, traffic efficiency and quality of life for nearby residents. We are proud to continue making strategic investments that position Oneida County for long-term economic growth and opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n
The roundabout will connect Rt. 825 to an improved Perimeter Road, which will be the main access point to the Triangle Site and Chobani\u2019s future facility.<\/p>\n
The noise wall will separate nearby homes from the roundabout.<\/p>\n
Initial work includes tree removal, and traffic will be detoured beginning in May, according to Picente.<\/p>\n
Details about the detour will be shared before it starts.<\/p>\n
The roundabout and noise wall are expected to be finished this fall, Picente added.<\/p>\n
Other projects led by Oneida County at the site include building a 12-inch steel natural gas main, a sanitary sewer pump station and force main and installing a new electrical service to provide 50 megawatts of additional power.<\/p>\n
All construction will continue in phases throughout 2026 alongside Chobani\u2019s project timeline.<\/p>\n
