{"id":68,"date":"2026-03-30T03:45:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-30T03:45:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/italy\/68\/"},"modified":"2026-03-30T03:45:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T03:45:10","slug":"renoir-cezanne-and-matisse-works-stolen-from-italian-museum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/italy\/68\/","title":{"rendered":"Renoir, Cezanne, and Matisse works stolen from Italian museum"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p> By TAIMAZ SZIRNIKS, Agence France Presse<\/p>\n<p>  Published  March 30, 2026 4:55am  <\/p>\n<p>     <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/preferences\/source?q=gmanetwork.com\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"gma-preferred-source-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">  Add GMA on Google <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> Make this your preferred source to get more updates from this publisher on Google. <\/p>\n<p>Milan,\u00a0Italy \u2013 Thieves stole paintings by Renoir, Cezanne and Matisse from a museum in Italy a week ago, police said Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Four masked men entered the villa of the Magnani Rocca Foundation, near Parma in northern Italy, and made off with the artworks overnight last Sunday into Monday, a police spokesman told AFP, confirming a report on the Rai television network.<\/p>\n<p>They made off with \u201cFish\u201d by Auguste Renoir, \u201cStill Life with Cherries\u201d by Paul Cezanne, and \u201cOdalisque on the Terrace\u201d by Henri Matisse worth several million euros, said Italian media reports.<\/p>\n<p>The thieves forced the entrance door to get into a room on the first floor before escaping across the museum gardens.<\/p>\n<p>The whole operation took less than three minutes and was structured and organised, the museum told broadcaster SkyTG24.<\/p>\n<p>They had not been able to go any further thanks to the surveillance system and rapid intervention of police and security officers, the museum added.<\/p>\n<p>Police are looking at the museum&#8217;s video-surveillance footage and that of neighbouring businesses, said a police spokesman.<\/p>\n<p>The Magnani Rocca Foundation 20 kilometres (12 miles) from Parma hosts the collection of art historian Luigi Magnani, which also includes works by Durer, Rubens, Van Dyck, Goya and Monet.
