Capcom Co., Ltd. has released ” Guidelines for Hosting Community Tournaments ” for individuals and voluntary organizations in Japan on April 28, 2026. The guidelines will allow for the use of “Street Fighter 6” and other titles in tournaments without the need to contact Capcom individually, provided that the rules are adhered to.

The guidelines released this time were established as part of Capcom’s support for users’ community activities. Previously, both individuals and corporations were required to obtain permission to hold tournaments, but the revised guidelines have eased the requirements.
Eligible Community Tournaments
Community tournaments held in Japan by individuals residing in Japan
Community conventions organized by “individuals” or “organizations without legal personality
Non-profit community conventions
Not subject to the Guidelines
Community conventions organized by public organizations such as corporations, schools, and governments
Community conventions organized by private businesses (e.g., restaurants)
Community conventions held at facilities with age restrictions on admission
Community conventions held at facilities related to gambling or gaming
Community conventions used to advertise or promote one’s own products/services, politics, religion, or ideology/beliefs
Community tournaments that have illegal or inappropriate purposes or are offensive to public order and morals and may damage the Company’s brand
Community competitions for commercial purposes

There is also a limit on the number of participants: 64 or fewer for paid tournaments and 256 or fewer for free tournaments.
If the conditions are met, participation and spectator fees can be collected. Participation fees must be less than 2,000 yen (including tax) per person and spectator fees must be less than 1,500 yen (including tax) per person. The collected fees may be used for the operation of the tournament and must not be used for profit. The only prizes that may be awarded are “certificates or trophies of no monetary value.
