A new chef-driven Japanese restaurant is set to open its doors in downtown Chattanooga next week. Torikaya will officially open on Tuesday, May 12, at 1120 Houston St., Suite 150, near Warehouse Row.

The modern concept is led by Executive Chef Erik Cielo and features a menu centered on charcoal-grilled yakitori, sushi, ramen and a variety of shareable plates. The restaurant offers a warm, contemporary atmosphere along with a full bar, designed to accommodate both lunch service and evening dining.

Cielo also serves as Executive Culinary Director for Kals Restaurant Group, bringing international experience from kitchens across the United States, Mexico, Spain and Dubai, along with a background in sushi and yakitori-focused cuisine.

“Torikaya is about great food, real hospitality, and a space that feels easy to enjoy,” said Carlos Kal, owner of Kals Restaurant Group. “We’re excited to open our doors and welcome Chattanooga in.”

The restaurant will operate with expanded hours, opening daily for lunch and dinner service, with extended evening hours on weekends.

Torikaya is locally owned and operated by Kals Restaurant Group, which also operates Totto Sushi & Grill, Zaya 1943 Korean Steakhouse and Rodizio Grill Hamilton Place.
