OSAKA (TR) – Police in Osaka City are investigating a possible homicide after a young woman was found dead in a hotel room in the Minami entertainment district following a tip-off, reports the Sankei Shimbun (May 9).
Officers from the Minami Police Station discovered the unresponsive woman at around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday inside a hotel in Namba, Chuo Ward. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, the victim had visible discoloration on the skin of her neck, indicating a possible strangulation.
The discovery was prompted by an unusual visit to the police station roughly an hour and a half earlier. At around 5:00 a.m., a man walked into the station and told officers, “There is a possibility that a woman has been murdered.”
The man explained to police that a female acquaintance had recently come to him for advice regarding a chilling conversation. According to the informant, his female friend told him she had spoken to another man who confessed to her, “I killed someone.”
Police are currently rushing to formally identify the victim and determine the exact cause of death, while questioning the informant to track down the man who allegedly made the confession.
The incident took place in a bustling commercial area densely packed with commercial buildings, bars, and restaurants, located just steps away from Osaka Metro’s Namba Station.
