OSAKA (TR) – Police in Osaka City have arrested a part-time worker on suspicion of robbery and murder after a 23-year-old woman was found strangled to death inside a hotel in the bustling Namba district.
Yusei Mori, a resident of Yokkaichi City in Mie Prefecture, is accused of killing the young woman inside a hotel room on the night of May 8. Following the fatal assault, he allegedly fled the scene with her personal identification, including her My Number card.
According to investigative sources, a recent search of the crime scene revealed that the victim’s wallet, which was left behind in the room, had been emptied. Police noted that both paper currency and credit cards were missing, fueling suspicions of a robbery motive.

During police questioning, Mori offered a contradictory statement. While he confessed to the physical act, telling investigators, “I strangled the woman and killed her,” he partially denied the severe charges of robbery-murder.
“I did not rob her of her money or valuables, and I had no intention of killing her,” the suspect claimed.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the woman’s death and the whereabouts of her missing cash and credit cards.
