The second week of the Italian Open is here, with the women’s fourth round getting underway and the last few third-round matches on the men’s side set to come to an end. Our live tracker will help keep you up to date with all the latest results from Rome.

21:22 CET – After an impressive performance against world number one Aryna Sabalenka at the end of last month in Madrid, it is back down to earth for Naomi Osaka in Rome after winning just three games against Iga Swiatek in a contest that lasted under an hour and a half.

Swiatek is always so strong on clay and when she is on her game on her favourite surface, nobody can touch her, and the Pole was very much on her game this evening as she cruised past a tough opponent in emphatic style.

20:55 CET – There has been an upset this evening on the men’s side of the draw! Argentina’s Thiago Tirante has stormed past the 10th seed and the heavy pre-match favourite Flavio Cobolli in just over an hour and a half.

Tirante’s impressive first serve percentage compared to Cobolli’s inconsistent first serve played a key role in the shock win, as Cobolli’s clay court season takes an unexpected setback after such a promising start in Munich and Madrid.

As for Tirante, it is onwards and upwards as he books a spot in the last 16!

19:40 CET – Jessia Pegula has seen off the challenge of an in-form Anastasia Potapova, battling through a tricky opening set to win 7-6(6), 6-2.

After winning the title in Charleston, Pegula fell to eventual champion Marta Kostyuk in the Madrid third round, and she will now want to get some momentum ahead of Roland Garros.

On the men’s side of the tournament, Daniil Medvedev was far from his best, but had just about enough to get past qualifier and world number 139, Pablo Llamas Ruiz, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Medvedev hit 36 winners but also struck 40 unforced errors, yet despite his wayward display, he has now set up a fourth-round meeting with either home favourite Flavio Cobolli or Thiago Agustin Tirante.

17:42 CET – Serbia’s Hamad Medjedovic is into his maiden Masters fourth round, fighting from a set down to edge past Mariano Navone, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, in a truly brutal three-hour contest, which even saw the former throw up towards the end of the match.

Incredibly, Medjedovic made a staggering 70 unforced errors, compared to Navone’s 33. However, he hit 31 winners to the Argentine’s 19, finding a way to come out on top in a true war of attrition.

The 22-year-old has been in amazing form on the clay, winning 13 of his last 15 matches, including triumphing at a Challenger event in Naples while reaching the Barcelona semi-finals.

He will have a massive chance to reach the quarter-finals now with Martin Landaluce his next opponent.

17:09 CET – Jannik Sinner is simply frightening. The ruthless Italian has made incredibly light work of Alexei Popyrin – as he does to everyone – dismantling the Australian 6-2, 6-0 in a little over an hour.

On home turf, Sinner hit 20 winners and made just 12 unforced errors, completely obliterating his opponent. He has now won a whopping 30-straight matches at Masters 1000 level.

How on earth can anyone stop him? It looks like an absolute certainty that he will complete the Career Golden Masters here in Rome, etching his name in the history books as the youngest player to do so.

Meanwhile, two-time champion Elina Svitolina was in impressive touch, with the seventh seed easing to a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Nikola Bartunkova.

She will face either second seed Elena Rybakina or former world number one Karolina Pliskova in the quarter-finals.

16:02 CET – Mirra Andreeva continues to impress on the clay this season, sealing her spot in the Rome quarter-finals with a really good 6-3, 6-3 win over the tricky Elise Mertens.

The Russian won the title in Linz and reached the final at the recent WTA 1000 event in Madrid. She will be eyeing another good run here in Rome ahead of the French Open, and now has a tantalising last-eight meeting with Coco Gauff.

15:43 CET – How does Coco Gauff keep doing this? The American has somehow come out on top against 18-year-old Iva Jovic, beating her fellow American 5-7, 7-5, 6-2 in a real slugfest that lasted two hours and 46 minutes.

Jovic was serving for the match at 5-3 in the second set, and even had a match point in that game. However, as she always does, Gauff managed to dig incredibly deep to battle back, taking control as Jovic faded in the final set.

Jovic served 10 double faults, which proved extremely costly in the big moments. In the end, Gauff showed her experience to move into the quarter-finals.

15:23 CET – The fairytale run of Italian Andrea Pellegrino on home turf continues, with the qualifier defeating Frances Tiafoe 7-6(8), 6-1 to seal his spot in the fourth round.

It is undoubtedly the biggest win of the 29-year-old’s career, and he has now won five matches in a row in Rome en route to a maiden last 16 appearance at a Masters event.

He faces a potential match-up with none other than world number one and fellow Italian Jannik Sinner, who takes on Alexei Popyrin soon.

14:22 CET – With the women’s draw opening up, Jelena Ostapenko is taking full advantage, seeing off Anna Kalinskaya in straight sets to win 6-1, 6-2.

The Latvian needed just 71 minutes to advance, with a dominant serve to help her along the way.

Meanwhile, in the men’s draw, a seed has fallen with Brandon Nakashima being defeated by world number 117 Nikoloz Basilashvili in straight sets, 7-6(5), 6-4.

13:04 CET – Lucky loser Martin Landaluce produced a really great performance to claim a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Mattia Bellucci in Rome.

The 20-year-old Spaniard, who reached the Miami quarter-finals earlier this year, booked a spot in just his second Masters fourth round by losing only seven points on serve against Bellucci.

12:32 CET – What a final season on tour Sorana Cirstea is enjoying!

The 36-year-old has followed up her win over world number one Aryna Sabalenka, comfortably seeing off an out-of-sorts Linda Noskova, 6-2, 6-4.

Cirstea is now into her first-ever Rome quarter-final, and is 13th in the WTA race, illustrating how well she is playing this year. In fact, she is probably playing the best tennis of her career!

12:28 CET – Andrey Rublev is the first winner of the day in the Italian capital, sealing a straightforward 6-4, 6-4 win over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina to book his spot in the fourth round.

Rublev, who reached the Barcelona final a few weeks ago, was super strong on serve, landing 72% first serves and winning 85% of them.

He will now make his first Masters last 16 appearance of the season, and will face the winner of Brandon Nakashima vs Nikoloz Basilashvili.

11:05 CET – Play is about to get underway in Rome, with the players taking to the court.

You can follow the men’s side of the draw here, and the women’s here.

The evening session sees a potentially superb clash between Grand Slam champions Iga Swiatek and Naomi Osaka, while Elena Rybakina vs Karolina Pliskova rounds out the day.

Meanwhile, the last few men’s third-round clashes begin in a few hours. Andrey Rublev and Alejandrova Davidovich Fokina get proceedings started, while Brandon Nakashima, Frances Tiafoe and Hamad Medjedovic will all be looking to reach the fourth round.
