Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said that Trump briefed her in detail about his China visit on the understanding that the contents of their conversation would remain confidential.
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said on Friday that she and US President Donald Trump reaffirmed the “ironclad” alliance between their countries during a phone conversation held shortly after Trump concluded his two-day visit to China.
According to Takaichi, Trump joined the call from aboard Air Force One as he travelled back following meetings in Beijing.
“We exchanged views on issues surrounding China, including the economy and security, and reaffirmed close communication on Indo-Pacific issues,” Takaichi told reporters after the discussion.

She said the leaders also discussed developments related to Iran, and she conveyed Japan’s position on the matter to Trump. However, Takaichi declined to say whether Taiwan was discussed during the call.
The Japanese prime minister added that Trump briefed her in detail about his China visit on the understanding that the contents of their conversation would remain confidential.
In a post on X, Takaichi said Japan and the United States would continue to work closely together to strengthen the bilateral alliance and respond to international developments in the Indo-Pacific and the Middle East.
“Regarding the situation in Iran, I once again conveyed Japan’s position to President Trump. Moving forward, in order to further strengthen the Japan-US alliance and address international situations in areas such as the Indo-Pacific and the Middle East, we will continue to closely collaborate,” she wrote.

Earlier today, Trump said he had made “fantastic trade deals” and settled “a lot of different problems” in his meetings with China’s Xi Jinping this week, but hours after the summit ended on Friday details on exact agreements remained scarce.
Trump had arrived in Beijing seeking to seal accords in sectors including agriculture, aviation and artificial intelligence, as well as to contain differences between the two sides in a number of tense geostrategic areas.
After the first day wrapped, Trump said Xi had agreed to help open the Strait of Hormuz, as well as buy Boeing jets and American oil and soybeans.
But there have been no formal announcements, and the Chinese foreign ministry would not confirm or deny Trump’s statements when asked on Friday afternoon.
