The Hokkaido Entertainment Convention in Kitahiroshima City (KitaCon), a subculture festival, will be held in Kitahiroshima City, Hokkaido in the fall of 2026. Koichi Terasaka, the initiator of KitaCon, held an introductory event at the

Machi★Asobi vol.30 venue, so I’ve summarized the content.

We’ve come all the way from Kitahiroshima City, Hokkaido! We’re excited to announce a new ‘subculture festival’!

The introductory event was held at the entrance on the first floor of ufotable CINEMA.

From left to right: Kazuki Yanase, the publicity producer for ‘Jashin-chan Dropkick’; Saki Kawamura from Kitahiroshima City Hall; and Koichi Terasaka, the initiator of ‘Kita-Con’.

She came all the way from Kitahiroshima. Apparently, Ms. Terasaka’s family home is also in Kitahiroshima.

Hiroshi Matsuyama from CyberConnect2 also rushed over after finishing the opening ceremony of Machi★Asobi vol.30.

Kitahiroshima is located 17 minutes from Sapporo and 21 minutes from New Chitose Airport. It gained considerable attention when Escon Field, the home stadium of the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, opened in 2023.

Kitahiroshima City is also known as the place where the famous Dr. Clark uttered the famous words, ‘Boys, be ambitious.’ Ms. Terasaka loves the city-wide entertainment event called Machi★Asobi, and she planned and brought to life a contest inspired by Machi★Asobi.

The first KitaCon event will be held on November 14th-15th, 2026. The timing is chosen to coincide with the ‘off-season for professional baseball’ and ‘a time when there is no snow.’ Like Machi★Asobi, it will be a pop culture festival that brings together ‘anime,’ ‘games,’ ‘manga,’ ‘cosplay,’ ‘itasha’ (cars decorated with anime/manga characters), and more.

KitaCon’s logo has not yet been decided, and they are currently using a temporary logo to promote the event.

The logo is currently being chosen through a public competition, with submissions coming in from design school students and others. The winning logo will be given its final touches by

the Sapporo studio of the animation production company ‘ENGI’ .

Furthermore, an image character is also in the works. The design is being handled by

Yuuki Hagure and Oto , who are known for designing the VTuber Usada Pekora. In addition, Yusuke Kumagai, a member of the planning and development team for Hatsune Miku, is cooperating on the design concept.

Please note that the date of KitaCon, November 14, 2026, completely overlaps with YOASOBI’s Sapporo Dome concert, so those planning to attend should secure their accommodations early.

A commemorative photo was taken after the introductory event.

Afterward, Ms. Terasaka moved to the parasol display area on the Shinmachi boardwalk. The Kitahiroshima City booth was also set up in the parasol display area, promoting KitaCon.

If you follow

the official X account for Booth Kitakon , you can receive Shiroi Koibito, a famous Hokkaido confection. The reason they are giving away Shiroi Koibito is because Kitahiroshima has a large factory that can produce 1.1 million Shiroi Koibito cookies a day .
