The updated design keeps the team’s signature cherry blossom theme but gives it a darker “night-mode” look inspired by the new Nissan LEAF NISMO. The timing matches Tokyo’s first-ever night Formula E race.

Nissan unveiled the look of the new livery on Instagram with the caption: “Special race = special livery. This stunning design will be on display at The NISMO Pit, Saturday 25th July, City Circuit Tokyo Bay.” The Tokyo E-Prix will feature two races this weekend, and Nissan will be hoping to repeat the success it enjoyed last year when Oliver Rowland claimed victory on home soil.Rowland has an impressive record in Tokyo. He has secured all three Julius Baer Pole Positions held at the circuit so far, giving him a perfect record of starting from pole position. The reigning Formula E world champion also turned pole into victory last season and will now look to do the same in both races as he chases back-to-back drivers’ titles.“It’s always special coming back to Tokyo,” he said. Ahead of the double-header, Rowland said racing in front of Nissan’s home fans always gives the team extra motivation. “It’s always special coming back to Tokyo. Racing at Nissan’s home event is something we all look forward to, and the atmosphere around the circuit is fantastic. I’ve always enjoyed driving this track and it’ll be interesting to see how it changes under the lights for the first night race here. It’s another important weekend with plenty to fight for, so our focus is on putting everything together and delivering a strong result in front of our fans,” he added.
Formula E Championship battle heats up
Oliver Rowland heads into the final four races of the season third in the drivers’ standings with 114 points.Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein leads the championship with 141 points, while Jaguar TCS Racing’s Mitch Evans is second with 132 points.
