Fourthent Consulting, an NTT Data Group consulting company formerly known as QUNIE, has launched a service to help Japanese companies with overseas operations establish global IT infrastructure standards, according to a statement released on July 27.
The new consulting offering, called the Global IT Infrastructure Standard Development Service, began on July 27 and is aimed at Japanese companies expanding globally. It is designed to create and maintain both a global IT infrastructure standard and an upstream infrastructure process standard based on industry-standard design principles while reflecting each client’s corporate culture and business characteristics.
The service covers networks and security, servers and configuration management, identity management, and rules for data security and use with future AI deployment in mind. It also helps clients organize requirement-definition workflows and confirmation items for infrastructure preparation when setting up sites.
According to the release, the service supports companies from standards design through rollout across global locations, with Japanese-English bilingual consultants working alongside clients to facilitate communication with overseas offices and project execution. The company said the support also helps promote cross-organizational consensus-building and execution while taking into account differences in business processes and decision-making policies.
Fourthent said the service is intended to reduce the site-by-site optimization that often emerges when companies open new locations or integrate acquisitions, while shortening lead times and strengthening global IT governance.
In the release, Fourthent described IT infrastructure standards as a structured set of policies and criteria that companies can reference across domestic and overseas sites when designing, deploying, operating and changing IT systems. Rather than allowing each location to make independent decisions on IT environments, the standards are intended to clarify company-wide principles and minimum requirements, helping preserve consistent levels of quality, security, cost control and operational efficiency.
The company said many businesses have delayed creating and implementing such standards because of shortages of personnel and expertise. Without standardized preparation, infrastructure buildouts for new sites can face longer lead times, siloed operations, greater governance and security risks, and less efficient processes.
Fourthent said the service draws on experience supporting both Japanese and foreign companies on IT projects, with global consulting work concentrated mainly in the telecommunications and manufacturing sectors. Fees and project duration will be provided through individual estimates.
