Jaguar Land Rover Japan said on July 31 it began taking orders for a 120-unit limited-run special edition of the Range Rover Velar in Japan, branded the Range Rover Velar Urban Contrast Edition.
The model will be sold through the company’s authorized retailer network nationwide. The vehicle was planned around contrasts found in urban settings, including modern architecture and the interplay of sunlight and artificial lighting.
The special edition is based on the Range Rover Velar S D200 and comes in four exterior colors: Fuji White, Santorini Black, Carpathian Grey and Batumi Gold. It features 20-inch Style 1089 alloy wheels in a gloss black finish, while black contrast roofs are available on Fuji White, Carpathian Grey and Batumi Gold variants.
Interior choices are Ebony or Cloud/Ebony grain leather seats. The vehicle also includes privacy glass and a cold climate package with a heated windscreen, heated washer nozzles, headlight power wash, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel.
Jaguar Land Rover Japan set a special manufacturer’s suggested retail price of 8.99 million yen ($56,540) including consumption tax for Fuji White models with Ebony interior, with 15 units allocated to that configuration. The company said the listed price is a reference price and excludes insurance, taxes other than consumption tax, registration-related costs, accessories and recycling fees. In Japan, the manufacturer’s suggested retail price is a reference benchmark and final sales prices may be set by dealers.
Range Rover is one of JLR’s four brands, alongside Defender, Discovery and Jaguar. The Range Rover lineup comprises the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar and Range Rover Evoque. According to the release, the brand sells in 121 countries and territories and offers plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid vehicles across all Range Rover models, with full battery electric models planned by 2030.
