The Caribbean is represented in this year’s tournament by Los Nacionales Little League from Santiago in the Dominican Republic. In the first round, the team lost a close one, falling 2-1 against Nicaragua. A team from the Dominican Republic has never won the Little League World Series. Can this one stave off elimination as it looks for its nation’s first title?
Japan is represented this year by Joto Little League from Tokyo. The team received a bye into the second round, but quickly ran into issues, falling 6-0 to Curacao. Japan ranks second all-time in Little League World Series titles among non-USA countries, winning 11 times, but the nation hasn’t won this event since 2017.
This year’s LLWS in Williamsport, Pa. features 20 teams — 10 from the United States and 10 international teams. Last year, Tung-Yuan Little League from Taipei, Taiwan won the Little League World Series, defeating Summerlin South Little League from Las Vegas in the final.
