China in its latest Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) report has called on the United States to show “sincerity” in resolving the Iranian nuclear issue while warning about Japan’s discussions on possessing nuclear weapons.
The national report on the implementation of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons was made public online by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.
The document outlines Beijing’s progress in nuclear disarmament and its long-standing nuclear policies, including “no first use”, while blaming the US for the impasse over the Iranian nuclear issue and rebuking its military actions against Iran.
According to the report, military strikes on Iran by the US and Israel last June and this February “seriously violated international law and the purposes of the UN Charter”.
