Beijing-headquartered V&T Law Firm has launched an office in Osaka, marking its second branch outside the Chinese mainland as it steps up its international expansion.

Dou Shaowu, head of V&T’s Osaka office, told China Business Law Journal: “As Japan’s ‘financial and asset management special zone’, Osaka offers strong potential in emerging sectors such as life sciences, alongside highly attractive tax incentives. Establishing an early presence here will help capture future growth opportunities.”

Dou specialises in areas including dispute resolution, intellectual property, and banking and finance. He has practised at V&T for more than a decade, previously working at the firm’s Shanghai office.

The firm now operates 19 domestic offices across cities including Shenzhen, Shanghai, Chengdu, Wuhan and Xi’an, in addition to its two branches outside the Chinese mainland, in Hong Kong and Osaka.

The new Osaka office, which will focus on cross-border business, asset management and wealth management, is located in Room 201 of the Nishitenma Building.

In recent years, several renowned Chinese law firms have established a presence in Japan, including Jingsh Law Firm (Yokohama, 2026), Yingke Law Firm (Tokyo, 2024), East & Concord Partners (Tokyo, 2024) and AllBright Law Offices (Tokyo, 2022).
