{"id":13345,"date":"2026-04-28T09:23:06","date_gmt":"2026-04-28T09:23:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/13345\/"},"modified":"2026-04-28T09:23:06","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T09:23:06","slug":"gourmet-capital-kyoto-now-has-six-three-michelin-starred-restaurants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/13345\/","title":{"rendered":"Gourmet capital Kyoto now has six three-Michelin-starred restaurants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the <a href=\"https:\/\/guide.michelin.com\/jp\/en\/travel-guide\/kyoto-travel-guide\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Michelin Guide Kyoto &amp; Osaka 2026<\/a> ceremony held in Osaka on April 23, Kyoto\u2019s Miyamaso was minted as a new three-starred restaurant, marking the first time since the inaugural 2020 edition of the guide that another top-ranked establishment was announced for the city.<\/p>\n<p>The addition of Miyamaso, which is located within an eponymous ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) and offers a seasonal menu based on locally sourced ingredients, brings the total number of three-Michelin-starred restaurants in the ancient capital to six.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Five new restaurants earned two stars: Four in Kyoto \u2014 Doppo, Higashiyama Yoshihisa, Muromachi Yui and Tokuha Motonari \u2014 and one in Osaka: kaiseki (Japanese haute cuisine) purveyor Teruya.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nineteen new restaurants \u2014 12 in Kyoto and 7 in Osaka \u2014 joined the one-Michelin-starred club, including Kikunoi Sushi Ao (the sushi specialty outpost of the renowned Kikunoi group) in Kyoto and yakitori specialist Torisho Ishii in Osaka.
