Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said on Friday that she and US President Donald Trump reaffirmed the \u201cironclad\u201d alliance between their countries during a phone conversation held shortly after Trump concluded his two-day visit to China.<\/p>\n
According to Takaichi, Trump joined the call from aboard Air Force One as he travelled back following meetings in Beijing.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe exchanged views on issues surrounding China, including the economy and security, and reaffirmed close communication on Indo-Pacific issues,\u201d Takaichi told reporters after the discussion.<\/p>\n

She said the leaders also discussed developments related to Iran, and she conveyed Japan\u2019s position on the matter to Trump. However, Takaichi declined to say whether Taiwan was discussed during the call.<\/p>\n
