Gamba Osaka beat Al-Nassr 1-0 in the Asian \u2060Champions League Two final to deny Cristiano Ronaldo and the Saudi Pro League leader\u00a0in the continent’s second-tier competition in Riyadh on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Deniz Hummet scored the winner in the \u200b30th minute to give the J. League outfit \u200cits second \u200ccontinental title, which comes 18 years after \u200bit claimed the Asian Champions League.<\/p>\n
The result means Ronaldo has yet to win a major trophy since joining \u2060Al-Nassr in 2023 after his contract with Manchester United was \u2060terminated by mutual consent, although his side holds a two-point lead in the SPL with \u200bone round of matches \u2060remaining.<\/p>\n
The Saudi side dominated the clash at King Saud University Stadium but \u2060was unable to \u200bfind a way past Gamba’s young \u200bgoalkeeper\u00a0Rui Araki.<\/p>\n
The 18-year-old palmed Abdulrahman Ghareeb’s seventh-minute \u200bshot \u200caround the post while Sadio Mane hit the side-netting 16 minutes later.<\/p>\n
But at the 30-minute\u00a0mark, the Japanese side \u200cwent in front when Hummet turned from 16 yards out to slot Issam Jebali’s through pass into the bottom corner of the\u00a0goal.<\/p>\n
Ghareeb was inches away from the equalizer \u200bthree \u200bminutes before the interval, and Ronaldo glanced \u200ba stoppage-time header wide with Jorge Jesus’ side on \u2060top.<\/p>\n
Al-Nassr’s frustration continued as Joao Felix hit the post in the 77th minute from distance with Araki finally beaten.<\/p>\n
Gamba defender Takeru Kishimoto slid in to \u200bmake a match-saving block of the Portuguese forward’s shot six minutes from time after Ronaldo’s backheel from the edge of the area momentarily put his teammate into space.\u00a0<\/p>\n
