(Bernama pic)<br \/>\nPETALING JAYA: Malaysia and Japan are exploring collaborations in semiconductors, rare earths and supply chain development that could drive a new model for the automotive industry, says Japanese ambassador to Malaysia Noriyuki Shikata.<\/p>\n<p class=\"py-1.5 mb-4 text-lg\">During a tour of the Perodua factory in Rawang today, he said stronger partnerships between Japanese and Malaysian companies could position Malaysia as a key hub for advanced manufacturing and automotive innovation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"py-1.5 mb-4 text-lg\">Shikata said this aligns with Japanese prime minister Sanae Takahashi\u2019s growth strategy, particularly in priority sectors such as rare earth elements and green technology transformation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"py-1.5 mb-4 text-lg\">\u201cPerodua is one of the best models of joint ventures between Japanese and Malaysian companies, and it is a very successful example,\u201d he said, according to Bernama.<\/p>\n<p class=\"py-1.5 mb-4 text-lg\">Shikata said Japan\u2019s economy, trade and industry ministry had also decided to extend financial support for a new Perodua-led project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"py-1.5 mb-4 text-lg\">Citing Perodua\u2019s collaboration with Daihatsu, he said the partnership had enabled technology transfer, workforce development and knowledge-sharing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"py-1.5 mb-4 text-lg\">\u201cPerodua is entering a new stage.
