Tobias Jackson, who flew home from Japan to attend the ceremony.Before his name was called, Branden shook an officer\u2019s hand and quietly said, \u201cI made it.\u201dMoments later, the surprise unfolded as Tobias Jackson greeted his son after he received his diploma. When he thought I was not going to make it, his response was, &#8216;I completely understand,'&#8221; Master Sgt. Jackson said before the big moment. &#8220;It took a lot of planning, but I definitely was not going to miss this. I knew this was a very large milestone, more than what people think.&#8221;Branden said he believed his father would have to watch the ceremony through a social media livestream after being told he could not make the trip from Japan.
