{"id":28017,"date":"2026-05-25T01:39:22","date_gmt":"2026-05-25T01:39:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/28017\/"},"modified":"2026-05-25T01:39:22","modified_gmt":"2026-05-25T01:39:22","slug":"asia-markets-today-asx-nikkei-sensei-iran-trump-oil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/28017\/","title":{"rendered":"Asia markets today: ASX, Nikkei, Sensei, Iran, Trump, Oil"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pedestrians walk through a train station on August 05, 2024 in Tokyo, Japan. <\/p>\n<p>Tomohiro Ohsumi | Getty Images News | Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.N225\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nikkei 225<\/a> breached 65,000 for the first time Monday, hitting a record high in holiday-thinned Asia trading after reports that the crucial Strait of Hormuz may reopen soon pushed oil prices down and lifted investor sentiment.<\/p>\n<p>President\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/donald-trump\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Donald Trump<\/a> said in a Truth Social post that negotiations with Iran were &#8220;proceeding in an orderly and constructive manner,&#8221; adding that he had told his representatives &#8220;not to rush into a deal in that time is on [their] side.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Oil prices fell more than 5% after Trump&#8217;s comments, easing pressure on investors. Prices had climbed sharply after the Trump administration imposed a blockade on Iranian ports and Tehran effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world&#8217;s most important energy waterways.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@CL.1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">West Texas Intermediate\u00a0futures<\/a> for July was 4.52% lower at $92.23 per barrel in early Asia trade. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@LCO.1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brent crude\u00a0futures<\/a> for July fell 4.51% at $98.87 per barrel.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.N225\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nikkei 225<\/a>\u00a0rose 2.75% to hit a record of 65,081.96, while the Topix added 0.65%.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.AXJO\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">S&amp;P\/ASX 200<\/a> was flat.<\/p>\n<p>Markets in Hong Kong and South Korea are closed for public holidays.
