{"id":35448,"date":"2026-06-04T16:45:02","date_gmt":"2026-06-04T16:45:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/35448\/"},"modified":"2026-06-04T16:45:02","modified_gmt":"2026-06-04T16:45:02","slug":"ph-japan-to-advance-greenhouse-gas-reporting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/35448\/","title":{"rendered":"PH, Japan to advance greenhouse gas reporting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has recently signed a letter of intent with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Japan\u2019s Ministry of the Environment to strengthen cooperation on climate transparency and greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting systems.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement reflects the parties\u2019 commitment to advancing GHG accounting, reporting and verification frameworks, as demand grows for reliable sustainability-related information from companies and investors.<\/p>\n<p>Signatories were SEC Commissioner McJill Bryant Fernandez, DENR Undersecretary for Finance, Information Systems and Climate Change Analiza Rebuelta-Teh, and Ministry of the Environment Vice Minister for Global Environmental Affairs Kentaro Doi.<\/p>\n<p>The collaboration is part of the Partnership to Strengthen Transparency for co-Innovation (PaSTI), an initiative launched by the Japanese government in the Philippines in 2019 to support climate transparency efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Through the program, the SEC has engaged in technical activities aimed at improving its understanding of international approaches to emissions measurement and verification systems, as well as the relationship between environmental reporting frameworks and corporate sustainability disclosures.<\/p>\n<p>Get the latest news<br \/>\n                <br class=\"br-line\"\/><br \/>\n                delivered to your inbox<\/p>\n<p>Sign up for The Manila Times newsletters<\/p>\n<p>            By signing up with an email address, I acknowledge that I have read and agree to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manilatimes.net\/terms-of-service\" title=\"Terms of Service\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Terms of Service<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manilatimes.net\/privacy-policy\" title=\"Privacy Policy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Privacy Policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative complements SEC efforts to strengthen sustainability reporting requirements, including the adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Sustainability Disclosure Standards S1 and S2 for publicly listed companies and large non-listed entities under SEC Memorandum Circular 16, series of 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe acknowledge that climate transparency cannot be achieved by the financial sector alone.
