I recently returned to Japan after studying abroad in Victoria, Canada. Living in a different country was both exciting and inspiring, but it also came with many challenges. <\/p>\n
There were language barriers, cultural differences, and nights when I felt lonely. However, the most important thing I gained from studying abroad was not simply learning how to overcome those difficulties. Rather, it was learning to accept myself as I am and to be honest with myself, even when I am not perfect. <\/p>\n
I have long worked toward my dream of becoming a diplomat and serving as a bridge between Japan and the rest of the world. During my time abroad, however, I encountered people I had never met in my hometown of Kochi\u2014people with drug addictions, people with no limbs who were earning money as a street spectacle, and people asking strangers for money on the street. Seeing these realities made me realize how fortunate I had been to grow up in the environment I did. <\/p>\n
Before studying abroad, I believed that hard work alone was the reason I had been able to pursue my goals. Through this experience, I came to understand that my achievements were supported not only by my own efforts, but also by an environment that encouraged me, pushed me forward, and recognized my accomplishments. <\/p>\n
Because of this realization, I no longer want to use what I have learned only to achieve my own dreams or succeed personally. Instead, I want to use my knowledge, experiences, and opportunities to help people who have not been given the same advantages that I have had. <\/p>\n
I hope to continue learning so that I can become someone who helps create and protect a peaceful world\u2014one in which people are placed at the center, and nations support, respect, and understand one another. <\/p>\n
My study abroad experience taught me that challenges can be transformed into opportunities for growth, and it has strengthened my determination to keep learning and contributing to society. <\/p>\n
