{"id":39413,"date":"2026-06-12T08:47:35","date_gmt":"2026-06-12T08:47:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/39413\/"},"modified":"2026-06-12T08:47:35","modified_gmt":"2026-06-12T08:47:35","slug":"japans-jera-gets-first-barossa-lng-cargo-at-futtsu-terminal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/39413\/","title":{"rendered":"Japan&#8217;s Jera gets first Barossa LNG cargo at Futtsu terminal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jera announced the arrival of the first Barossa LNG cargo in a statement on Friday, marking the start of LNG deliveries from the Barossa project to Jera and supporting Japan\u2019s stable supply.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 2019-built 177,269-cbm LNG carrier Sohshu Maru, owned by MOL and Jera, delivered the shipment on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In January, Santos\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/australia-and-oceania\/santos-ships-first-barossa-lng-cargo-to-japan\/175513\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">shipped<\/a>\u00a0the first Darwin LNG cargo produced from the Barossa gas field to Japan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, Santos temporarily shut down the project in March. The company <a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/australia-and-oceania\/santos-barossa-fpso-to-start-ramping-up-production-next-week\/184313\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said <\/a>in April that it expects the Barossa floating storage and offloading facility (FPSO) to start ramping up production, with LNG production at the Darwin plant following thereafter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Santos is the operator and has a 50 percent interest in the Barossa gas project, with joint venture partners PRISM Energy International Australia (37.5 percent) and JERA Australia (12.5 percent).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project\u2019s annual LNG production capacity is approximately 3.4 million tonnes. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jera will offtake approximately 425,000 tonnes of LNG per year in line with its equity share.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Japanese firm said that Australian LNG \u201ccontinues to be an important component of Jera\u2019s increasingly diversified global procurement portfolio.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Barossa gas project is one of the company\u2019s biggest investments in Australia, in addition to the long-standing interest in the Wheatstone LNG project and major new investment in the Scarborough gas field development \u2013 expected to start production later this year,\u201d Jera said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jera added it will continue to build resilience across its \u201cstrong\u201d and diversified LNG portfolio, by balancing supply from the Asia\u2011Pacific region, the Middle East, the United States, and other sources.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Jera announced the arrival of the first Barossa LNG cargo in a statement on Friday, marking the start&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":39414,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[28922,28923,8,7046,33,28924],"class_list":["post-39413","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-japan","tag-barossa","tag-futtsu-lng","tag-japan","tag-jera","tag-nihon","tag-santos"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/39413","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=39413"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/39413\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/39414"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=39413"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=39413"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=39413"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
