{"id":44591,"date":"2026-06-21T06:21:53","date_gmt":"2026-06-21T06:21:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/44591\/"},"modified":"2026-06-21T06:21:53","modified_gmt":"2026-06-21T06:21:53","slug":"punch-and-other-monkeys-to-get-air-conditioned-bigger-yard-at-japanese-zoo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/44591\/","title":{"rendered":"Punch and other monkeys to get air-conditioned, bigger yard at Japanese zoo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CHIBA, (Japan): The city of Ichikawa, Chiba Prefecture, is set to improve living conditions for Punch and the other Japanese macaques at Ichikawa City Zoo.<\/p>\n<p>It included \u00a570 million for the project in its supplementary budget for fiscal 2026, which is to be submitted to the regular session of the city council in June.<\/p>\n<p>The city also plans to use donations for the improvement.<\/p>\n<p>Since being born in July last year, Punch has become famous around the world for clinging to a large stuffed orangutan as if it were his mother and trying hard to blend in with the group.<\/p>\n<p>An official taking care of the zoo\u2019s Japanese macaques announced the improvement at a press conference on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Sunshades and a soil area will be installed at Monkey Mountain, where Punch and the other monkeys are kept.<\/p>\n<p>The backyard, where the monkeys rest, will be expanded and air-conditioned.
