{"id":48366,"date":"2026-06-27T06:56:07","date_gmt":"2026-06-27T06:56:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/48366\/"},"modified":"2026-06-27T06:56:07","modified_gmt":"2026-06-27T06:56:07","slug":"heavy-rain-batters-japan-as-typhoons-raise-flood-risk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/48366\/","title":{"rendered":"Heavy rain batters Japan as typhoons raise flood risk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Typhoon Higos brushed past areas near Tokyo on Saturday, bringing heavy rain to Japan&#8217;s Pacific coastal regions, while a stronger typhoon approaching behind it was expected to bring additional rainfall and increase the risk of landslides and flooding later in the day, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.az\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">News.Az<\/a> reports, citing <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/english.kyodonews.net\/articles\/-\/78779\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kyodo<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The two typhoons, combined with a seasonal rain front, have already triggered heavy downpours across western and southwestern <a href=\"https:\/\/news.az\/news\/japan-suspends-100-flights-as-two-storms-approach\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Japan<\/a>, causing landslides and damaging roads.<\/p>\n<p>In Yamaguchi Prefecture, one person remained missing and several others were injured after a house collapsed in a landslide on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The Japan Meteorological Agency said Typhoon Higos weakened into a tropical depression on Saturday morning.
