Naomi Osaka won her first-round match at Wimbledon 2026 against Elsa Jacquemot.The tennis star walked onto the court in a custom kimono-style look from Hana Yagi.Osaka\u2019s look paid homage to her Japanese heritage.<\/p>\n

Wimbledon\u2019s all-white dress code leaves little room for self-expression on the court\u2014but not for Naomi Osaka, who arrived for her opening-round match today in perhaps her most personal walk-on outfit yet.<\/p>\n

For her first-round match against France\u2019s Elsa Jacquemot, Osaka walked on the No. 3 court at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in a custom monochrome look that paid homage to her Japanese heritage. Created by the Tokyo-based designer Hana Yagi, the kimono-style piece was decorated with subtle embroidery of cherry blossoms and cranes\u2014symbols of good fortune, renewal, and longevity in Japanese culture. The garment\u2019s obi, or sash, featured textured ties formed into bows, while its layered, sheer skirt modernized the cultural reference.<\/p>\n

Like her Australian Open and French Open looks<\/a>, the tennis star\u2019s kimono was the tip of the iceberg of what she had in store fashion-wise.<\/p>\n

Underneath, she wore a white Nike tennis dress complete with a pleated skirt and floral appliqu\u00e9s that tied into the kimono\u2019s pattern. She accessorized with a traditional kanzashi hair ornament and jewels courtesy of Mikimoto.<\/p>\n

Osaka\u2019s Wimbledon outfit is just the latest in what\u2019s shaping up to be a Grand Slam of fashion this year. The athlete started the year with a vibrant \u201cjellyfish\u201d ensemble by Robert Wun at the Australian Open, followed by sweeping \u201ccourt-ure\u201d Germanier ensembles at Roland Garros in May.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Wimbledon and US Open kits are in their own worlds,\u201d Osaka\u2019s creative collaborator Marty Harper told ELLE<\/a>, on the eve of Osaka\u2019s third-round match at the French Open. \u201cIt\u2019s really about creating something that\u2019s three-dimensional\u2014you\u2019re getting the walk-on, the court moment, and then the press that comes around it.\u201d<\/p>\n
