Ltd. (ACME Group) has signed long-term agreements to supply green ammonia and green methanol to Japanese companies, marking a significant export milestone under India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM).

Under the agreements, ACME will supply 405,000 tonnes per annum (405 kTPA) of green ammonia to Japan’s IHI Corporation. The deal is backed by Japan’s Contract for Difference (CfD) scheme for low-carbon ammonia, administered by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), which provides price support to Japanese buyers to make long-term imports commercially viable.

Separately, ACME signed a 10-year agreement with Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Inc. (MGC) to supply 100,000 tonnes per annum (100 kTPA) of green methanol from its Paradip facility.
The green methanol project is aimed at supporting decarbonisation in the maritime sector and is designed to meet the European Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO) requirements as well as the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) standards for cleaner marine fuels.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) said the agreements represent a major step in building overseas demand for India’s green hydrogen derivatives.

Approved in January 2023 with an outlay of ₹19,744 crore, the National Green Hydrogen Mission seeks to position India as a global hub for the production, utilisation and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives.

Under the Mission’s Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) programme, the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) provides production incentives through a competitive bidding process. ACME has been awarded production capacity of 370,000 tonnes per annum (370 kTPA) under the programme, forming the basis for the export agreements.

Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi said the deals would strengthen India’s green hydrogen ecosystem, attract global investment and help open new export markets for Indian green hydrogen and its derivatives.

MNRE Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi said the agreements establish a market linkage with Japan for green ammonia and green methanol, providing confidence to investors that the sector is becoming commercially viable and positioning India as a reliable supplier of clean fuels to global markets.

ACME Cleantech Solutions Pvt.
