Sapporo will invest about $643 million in the new firm to snap up a 25% stake.<\/p>\n<p>Through the joint venture, the major Japanese brewer aims to boost its beer sales in fast-growing Southeast Asia and Hong Kong, whose beer markets are expected to grow at an annual pace of about 5%.<\/p>\n<p>At a news conference in Tokyo, Sapporo President Hiroshi Tokimatsu called the tie-up \u201ca strategic option to realize business growth more speedily and efficiently.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Japanese company\u2019s target is to boost sales of products from its Sapporo Premium Beer brand, exclusive for overseas markets, by 10-fold in volume from the 2025 level by 2035 by leveraging Carlsberg\u2019s sales network.<\/p>\n<p>Last December, Sapporo decided to sell its real estate business, including its Yebisu Garden Place commercial complex in central Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>The company plans to use \u00a5300 billion to \u00a5400 billion out of the estimated \u00a5477 billion profit from the sale for growth investment, such as business acquisitions, to concentrate its management resources on its mainstay beer and other alcoholic beverage operations.<\/p>\n<p>With the Japanese market shrinking due to the country\u2019s declining population, Sapporo is eager to expand its overseas operations.<\/p>\n<p>Sapporo and Carlsberg have been in a partnership since 2024 to sell Sapporo Premium Beer products in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia.<\/p>\n<p>The latest tie-up will expand the area of cooperation to Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Sapporo Breweries said Monday it will form a capital and business tie-up with major Danish beer maker Carlsberg&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":54465,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[175],"tags":[6498,217,215,36142,6110,214,216,36141,4180],"class_list":["post-54464","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-business","tag-beer","tag-business","tag-business-of-japan","tag-carlsberg","tag-denmark","tag-japans-business","tag-japanese-business","tag-sapporo-breweries","tag-singapore"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/54464","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=54464"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/54464\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/54465"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=54464"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=54464"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=54464"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
