After the company went bankrupt in 2020, the downtown location its doors.<\/p>\n<p>Sakura Market and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osakamarketplace.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Osaka Marketplace<\/a> envision an array of features for the new store, which is expected to differ significantly from a typical smaller grocery merchant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore than just a minimart, it will feature a curated sushi buffet, an interactive instant ramen station, a Japanese sake and beer bar, and a dedicated matcha drink shop,\u201d the retailer states in a hiring post.<\/p>\n<p>Sakura Market is seeking to hire cashiers, customer service workers, stockers, cleaning staff, bartenders and sushi preparers, along with other roles.<\/p>\n<p>Wages are expected to range from $18.45 to $21 an hour, depending on experience. Employee roles will include part-time and full-time positions, the hiring post states.<\/p>\n<p>Downtown San Jose residents must cope with limited grocery store options, especially since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2025\/09\/09\/former-safeway-site-in-downtown-san-jose-lands-local-buyer\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Safeway closed a small-format store<\/a> on South Second Street in 2019.
