{"id":56428,"date":"2026-07-10T18:20:06","date_gmt":"2026-07-10T18:20:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/56428\/"},"modified":"2026-07-10T18:20:06","modified_gmt":"2026-07-10T18:20:06","slug":"naoto-fukasawa-redefines-alessi-stores-with-japanese-zen-design","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/56428\/","title":{"rendered":"Naoto Fukasawa Redefines Alessi Stores with Japanese Zen Design"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMILAN \u2014 Naoto Fukasawa, the Japanese industrial designer celebrated for his minimalist, \u201csuper normal\u201d aesthetic, is enhancing <a href=\"https:\/\/wwd.com\/home-design\/home-decor\/post-benetton-andrea-incontri-directs-alessi-ad-campaign-1236926763\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alessi<\/a> stores with the sort of homey Zen native to <a href=\"https:\/\/wwd.com\/tag\/japan-2\/\" id=\"auto-tag_japan-2\" data-tag=\"japan-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Japan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOn Friday, the Italian <a href=\"https:\/\/wwd.com\/tag\/design\/\" id=\"auto-tag_design\" data-tag=\"design\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">design<\/a> brand unveiled a new store concept by the Japanese designer, debuting in\u00a0Milan\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wwd.com\/tag\/tokyo-2\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tokyo-2\" data-tag=\"tokyo-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tokyo<\/a>\u00a0as part of its mission to reshape its shopping experience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn a statement, Fukasawa explained the two stores were intended to feel like a <a href=\"https:\/\/wwd.com\/tag\/home\/\" id=\"auto-tag_home\" data-tag=\"home\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">home<\/a>, an immersive environment where design is lived rather than simply displayed, adding that he achieved this with interiors defined by combining the \u201csoft glow of porcelain\u201d with oak and white finishes and metal accents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/wwd.com\/home-design\/home-decor\/interview-alberto-alessi-brand-refresh-1236304891\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alessi\u2019s<\/a> new space feels less like a shop and more like a <a href=\"https:\/\/wwd.com\/home-design\/interior-design\/middle-east-design-weeks-2027-dates-announced-1239060424\/\" id=\"related_article_link_home\" data-tag=\"home\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">home<\/a>. In\u00a0Milan, the historic\u00a0Via Manzoni\u00a0store was redesigned and soft-opened during\u00a0Milan Design Week, with an official opening planned for\u00a0September. Alongside Alessi products, the space also includes a curated selection of books and a small range of clothing. The\u00a01,453-square-foot\u00a0location includes a\u00a0538-square-foot caf\u00e9 area\u00a0developed with\u00a0Caff\u00e8 Vergnano, where customers can stop for coffee, pastries or sandwiches.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe same format has also opened in\u00a0Omotesand\u014d, <a href=\"https:\/\/wwd.com\/fashion-news\/designer-luxury\/loro-piana-open-store-tokyo-omotesando-1239022313\/\" id=\"related_article_link_tokyo-2\" data-tag=\"tokyo-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tokyo<\/a>, where it introduces the Alessi universe in a similarly residential, sensory way, including products shown in <a href=\"https:\/\/wwd.com\/sourcing-journal\/sustainability\/uyghur-forced-labor-risks-australia-japan-1239027948\/\" id=\"related_article_link_japan-2\" data-tag=\"japan-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Japan<\/a> for the first time. Fukasawa, who is famous for his Wall-Mounted CD Player for Muji and Hiroshima chair for Japanese firm Maruni, also designs products for Alessi.
