Despite generating considerable buzz worldwide, Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar has had a disappointing start at the Japanese box office. The Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna-starrer, which released in Japan on July 10, failed to make an impact on its opening day, following the trend set by Pushpa 2, which also underperformed in the market.<\/p>\n
According to box office tracking platform Mimorin, Dhurandhar failed to enter Japan’s top 25 rankings on its first day. The film showed early promise by recording 449 admissions till 2 p.m. across 57 locations. However, collections slowed significantly during the second half of the day despite the film being screened at 80 locations.<\/p>\n
The weak opening also meant that Dhurandhar could not secure a place among the top 10 Indian films with the highest opening-day footfalls in Japan. To enter the list, the film needed at least 1,300 admissions to surpass Tiger 3, which currently occupies the 10th spot. Earlier, Pushpa 2 also missed the top 10, finishing in 14th place behind Brahmastra, which recorded 1,010 opening-day admissions.<\/p>\n
At present, RRR continues to hold the record for the biggest opening by an Indian film in Japan with 8,230 footfalls, followed by Saaho (6,510), Kalki 2898 AD (3,700), Pathaan (2,220), Salaar (2,200), Jawan (1,960), Rangasthalam (1,610), Devara (1,550), Baahubali 2 (1,380), and Tiger 3 (1,300).<\/p>\n
