Hitachi Systems Ltd. and Mitsui Bussan Secure Directions Co. have started a cybersecurity partnership and launched a jointly operated security operations center service called Fusion SOC Service in July 2026, the companies said in a July 14 statement.<\/p>\n
The alliance combines Hitachi Systems’ nationwide one-stop IT service capabilities, spanning consulting, system building, operations and maintenance, with MBSD’s advanced vulnerability analysis and research capabilities. The companies said the partnership is aimed at supporting business continuity for customers across Japan.<\/p>\n
As part of the collaboration, the two companies plan to develop AI security services by linking their security personnel as cyber threats grow more complex with the spread of AI technologies. The release pointed to rising misuse of AI in attack processes, the growing use of AI agents in corporate operations, and the expansion of new attack surfaces tied to those systems.<\/p>\n
The companies also framed the tie-up as a response to a shortage of skilled cybersecurity workers and to the shift toward supply-chain attacks, in which attackers seek entry through business partners and group companies with weaker defenses.<\/p>\n
Hitachi Systems has structured its services around the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and operates managed security services centered on SOC functions, while MBSD, founded in 2001 as a cybersecurity specialist, offers services including penetration testing, threat-led penetration testing, red teaming, web application and network vulnerability assessments, malware analysis, integrated log monitoring and managed XDR.<\/p>\n
The companies have established an operating structure for the joint SOC service and plan to expand it into a full-stack offering covering prevention, detection, analysis, response and recovery. Hitachi Systems plans to provide the new security services broadly to customers across Japan through the joint SOC platform.<\/p>\n
Japan has faced persistent pressure to strengthen corporate cyber defenses as ransomware incidents and supply-chain risks have affected manufacturers, infrastructure operators and service providers.
