Honda still has reason to keep building the Accord, though, and has just launched an updated version in Japan that speaks to how much life the nameplate has left in it.

The important part: this is not a facelift. Set against the changes Honda has actually made, a facelift would count as a massive design overhaul. What Honda has done are some of the tiniest tweaks imaginable, most of which we suspect will reach the global model before long.

Read: Honda’s Accord Is Getting A Futuristic Makeover, And Maybe The Prelude’s Fake Shifter

All versions sold in Japan now come with clear side markers in the headlights, rather than orange ones, a small but notable improvement in the front-end design. Of course, it’s the technology used by this model that firmly establishes it as the flagship.

As the name implies, it’s fitted with Honda’s Sensing 360+ driver-assistance system, which, in Japan, includes a driver monitoring system and allows for hands-off driving on mapped highways.
