A handful of hours after WinStar Farm’s boom freshman sire Life Is Good<\/a> (Into Mischief) was represented by his fourth ‘TDN Rising Star’ presented by Hagyard in the form of the debuting filly Life Changing, the stallion’s first-crop son Lizhitsumodoraichi became his ninth individual winner with a front-running victory in a newcomers’ event over 1800 meters Sunday afternoon at Niigata Racecourse.<\/p>\n

Sent off the 43-10 third betting favorite to open his account at first asking, the Apr. 3 foal was sent straight into the lead from the five hole by leading jockey Keita Tosaki and galloped his 11 rivals along at a leisurely tempo over the left-turning track. Held together into the straight, the Hideyuki Mori trainee opened a bit of daylight approaching the final 200 meters and held sway to graduate by a comfortable 1 1\/2 lengths over second choice Ten Yumeno Aurora (Jpn) (Le Vent Se Leve {Jpn}).<\/p>\n

The winner’s dam, third in the grassy GII Jessamine Stakes as a juvenile and victorious in the Northbound Pride Oaks at three in 2020, was purchased by Mulholland Springs for $255,000 at the 2021 Keeneland November Sale. The second produce from Ask Bailey, Lizhitsumodoraichi was consigned by the Mulholland family operation to KEENOV in 2024 and fetched $270,000 before changing hands for $210,000 at Keeneland September last fall.<\/p>\n

On behalf of Fujita, best known for campaigning reigning Eclipse Award and GI Breeders’ Cup Classic hero Forever Young (Jpn) (Real Steel {Jpn}), Mori signed the ticket on the colt at this year’s OBS March Sale after he breezed a blinkered eighth of a mile in :9 4\/5 (scroll below to :52.33). He did not race with the equipment on Sunday.<\/p>\n

An active buyer of American-bred stock at this country’s breeze-up sales and known for successfully traveling his young runners to win overseas, Mori has started some 13 horses at the Breeders’ Cup since 2019, including Fujita’s Shin Believe (Constitution<\/a>), an $800,000 OBS March purchase who won a Niigata newcomers’ event by five lengths on Aug. 3, 2024 before finishing unplaced in the GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile in his next start.<\/p>\n

Ask Bailey is also responsible for a yearling filly by Taiba, a Cogburn<\/a> colt foaled Apr. 18 of this year and has been bred back to Omaha Beach.<\/p>\n
