Stocks have rallied this week on the possibility of a peace deal between the U.S. and Iran. The S&P 500<\/a>, which\u00a0fully recovered from its Iran war losses<\/a>\u00a0on Monday, has risen 3% this week. The Nasdaq<\/a> and Dow<\/a>, meanwhile, have added around 5% and more than 1%, respectively.<\/p>\n The Iran war is “very close to over<\/a>,” President\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0said in a Fox Business interview that aired on Wednesday, again claiming that Tehran wants to “make a deal very badly.”<\/p>\n A White House official told CNBC on Tuesday that a\u00a0second round of negotiations<\/a>\u00a0between Washington and Iran is under discussion. According to the official, who asked not to be named to discuss the administration’s plans, said nothing has been officially scheduled yet. <\/p>\n Oil prices were higher in Thursday trade. The\u00a0West Texas Intermediate<\/a> gained 0.87% at $92.07 per barrel as of 3:45 a.m. ET. International benchmark Brent crude<\/a> rose 0.95% to $95.81 per barrel. <\/p>\n South Korea’s Kospi advanced 2.21% to 6,226.05, while the small-cap Kosdaq was 0.91% higher at 1,162.97 at the end of Thursday’s trading session. India’s Nifty 50 erased early gains and was 0.37% lower as of 3:45 a.m. ET.<\/p>\n Australia’s S&P\/ASX 200<\/a> fell 0.26% to 8,955. Labor data released Thursday showed that Australian employment rose 1.4% in March from a year ago, while the unemployment rate held steady at 4.3%.<\/p>\n Mainland China’s CSI 300 index rose 1.10% to 4,736.61 while Hong Kong’s\u00a0Hang Seng index<\/a>\u00a0was 1.71% higher as of its last hour of trading. <\/p>\n China’s economy accelerated in the first quarter, supported by robust export growth, which helped offset tepid domestic demand, even as the growth outlook was clouded by the Iran war-fueled energy shock threatening global demand.<\/p>\n Gross domestic product grew 5% in the three months to March, data from the National Statistics Bureau showed Thursday, accelerating from 4.5% in the prior quarter and exceeding economists’ forecast for a 4.8% growth in a Reuters poll.<\/p>\n Stock Chart IconStock chart icon S&P 500 futures<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Nasdaq 100 futures<\/a>\u00a0both traded around the flatline.\u00a0Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/a>\u00a0rose by 45 points, or 0.1%.<\/p>\n Overnight on Wall Street, the S&P 500 gained 0.80%, ending at 7,022.95.
