Now the logistics firm has joined the JPYC Series B funding round, with the third funding tranche bringing the total amount raised to Yen 6 billion ($38 million). The first closing of the Series B raised Yen 1.78 billion ($11m) in February, with the second closing in May increasing the figure to Yen 5 billion ($32m).

JPYC originally existed as a prepaid money token, under legislation for prepaid debit cards. In October 2025 it formally launched as Japan’s first onshore stablecoin under Japan’s regulatory framework for fund transfer businesses. SBI has since unveiled JPYSC, issued under the trust bank stablecoin framework, but it is currently restricted to usage within the SBI VC Trade crypto exchange, whereas JPYC can move freely. That said, as a fund transfer stablecoin, transactions are limited to Yen 1 million ($6,333), whereas trust bank stablecoins do not carry that limitation.

Compared to dollar stablecoins, JPYC issuance remains modest. The company is expressly targeting both web3 and real world use cases and has inked various alliances for cards, retail outlets, and with the social media firm LINE for its Unifi web3/stablecoin app.

Article continues …

Want the full story? Pro subscribers get complete articles, exclusive industry analysis, and early access to legislative updates that keep you ahead of the competition.
