A kimono and ceramics exhibition titled \u201cGardens of Silence\u201d (\u201cA csend kertjei\u201d) opened on Thursday at the K\u00e1polna Gallery in Kecskem\u00e9t (central Hungary), where visitors will also be invited to a themed Japanese Day on August 15.<\/p>\n

Organized by the International Ceramics Studio in Kecskem\u00e9t, the exhibition and accompanying programs, which run until August 22, offer visitors an opportunity to explore and gain insight into the spirit, traditions, and aesthetics of Japanese culture, the organizers said.<\/p>\n

The exhibition features works by Japanese artists from the International Ceramics Studio\u2019s collection, as well as Hungarian and international artists whose work has been strongly influenced by Japanese philosophy and aesthetics.<\/p>\n

Alongside ceramics and sculptures, visitors can also view a kimono collection by ceramic artist M\u00e1ria Geszler.<\/p>\n

As part of the exhibition program, a Japanese Day will be held on August 15, featuring lectures, demonstrations, and workshops exploring Japanese art, traditions, and philosophy of life.<\/p>\n

The program will open with a lecture by L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Zentner, Secretary General of the Hungary-Japan Friendship Society, titled \u201cJapanese Craftsmanship as a Spiritual Pursuit\u201d. This will be followed by a presentation by applied artist R\u00e9ka T\u00f3th-V\u00e1s\u00e1rhelyi on kokeshi dolls, iconic figurines of Japanese folk art. In the afternoon, L\u00e1szl\u00f3 M\u00e1csai will introduce visitors to the unique world, philosophy, and care of bonsai trees, while ikebana master \u00c9va Baloghy will present the centuries-old traditions of Japanese flower arrangement.<\/p>\n

During an interactive workshop, participants can also learn about furoshiki, the traditional Japanese art of textile wrapping, and try out various techniques themselves.<\/p>\n

One of the highlights of the day will be an introduction to Japanese tea culture and a tea tasting hosted by international tea sommelier Annam\u00e1ria Wagner.<\/p>\n

Participants will have the opportunity to sample teas from different Japanese growing regions while learning about the traditions and rituals surrounding Japanese tea.<\/p>\n

The Japanese Day will conclude with a demonstration of raku firing, one of the best-known and most fascinating techniques in Japanese ceramics, led by ceramic artist Bence Boleman.<\/p>\n
