So here\u2019s this year\u2019s haul from 808 Day (August 8), 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I swear literally the only reason I keep X around is for Japanese colleagues, and I\u2019ve evidently trained the algorithm so their stuff pops up on top and not the river of sludge that the platform has become. And my language is set to English, not Japanese, even. So enjoy, at least until we get them onto BlueSky or Mastodon! <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I love this DIY D-Beam-ish invention!<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019re curious about that D-Beam-inspired controller widget, creator BEATNVISION has documented the project and its development. It\u2019s dubbed GesticatorMIDI:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This MIDI controller offers touch-free sound control, just like the Roland D-Beam. It comes with multiple Control Change (CC) presets, and switching to NOTE mode lets you enjoy playing melodies. In NOTE mode, you can also select the key and scale. M5Stack FIRE, Unit MIDI, Unit ToF<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hackster.io\/linclip\/gesticatormidi-roland-d-beam-inspired-controller-418b80\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GesticatorMIDI \u2013 Roland D-Beam inspired controller \u2013 Hackster<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And if you\u2019re curious, the heart of this is an <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.m5stack.com\/en\/core\/fire\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">IoT module based on the M5<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">D-Beam, for those of you who don\u2019t know, is the infrared range-finding sensor found on vintage gear, like so (uh, warning, may upset dogs or people with high frequency hearing):<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, returning to our regularly scheduled 808 Day wrap-up:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Frenetic flagship TR-1000 action for the 808\u2019s latest and greatest spiritual successor:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nice use of Sidecar, an Apple Pencil, and D16 Nepheton2 in this one \u2014 see my <a href=\"https:\/\/cdm.link\/nepheton2-808-plugin-review\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">review of the plug-in<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s classic TR-8!
