{"id":78402,"date":"2026-08-22T09:24:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T09:24:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/78402\/"},"modified":"2026-08-22T09:24:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T09:24:14","slug":"turkiye-japan-discuss-ai-risks-economic-security-in-tokyo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/78402\/","title":{"rendered":"T\u00fcrkiye, Japan discuss AI risks, economic security in Tokyo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>             TOKYO<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/japan\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/6a89616e7e0533a4eee09f0b.jpg\" alt=\"T\u00fcrkiye, Japan discuss AI risks, economic security in Tokyo\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Turkish and Japanese officials and experts met in Tokyo to examine how artificial intelligence and geopolitical competition are reshaping strategic communication, economic security and global supply chains.<\/p>\n<p>The STRATCOM Roundtable and STRATCOM Public Forum, organized by <a title=\"T\u00fcrkiye\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hurriyetdailynews.com\/index\/turkiye\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">T\u00fcrkiye<\/a>\u2019s Presidential Communications Directorate and its embassy in Tokyo, brought together representatives of public institutions, international organizations, technology companies, think tanks and universities.<\/p>\n<p>The roundtable focused on the effects of emerging technologies on global governance, digital sovereignty, information security and international cooperation. Participants also discussed disinformation, the changing role of public diplomacy and the use of technology in crisis management.<\/p>\n<p>A separate public forum on managing economic security examined critical technologies, reliable supply chains, data security and the transformation of the digital economy.<\/p>\n<p>In a video message, Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran said digital technologies had widened access to information but also created new vulnerabilities through manipulation, polarization and uncertainty.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, we are facing what can be described as a crisis of truth and a crisis of communication,\u201d Duran said.<\/p>\n<p>He called for greater international cooperation, exchanges of experience and the development of common principles, saying no country or institution could address such challenges alone.<\/p>\n<p>T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s ambassador to <a title=\"JAPAN\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hurriyetdailynews.com\/index\/japan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Japan<\/a>, O\u011fuzhan Ertu\u011frul, said multiple crises and growing uncertainty were placing further pressure on the international order. He called for stronger cooperation based on diplomacy and multilateralism, alongside reforms to global institutions.<\/p>\n<p>Ertu\u011frul said T\u00fcrkiye and Japan possessed complementary strategic capabilities and could work together to support international peace, stability and prosperity.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Communications Director Ferhat Pirin\u00e7\u00e7i said information security and a reliable information environment were central to economic resilience.
