Malaysia Airlines flight MH89 from Tokyo\u2019s Narita International Airport to Kuala Lumpur was cancelled today after the aircraft aborted its take-off because of a technical issue involving one of its engines.<\/p>\n
The airline said all 160 passengers and crew members aboard the Airbus A330-300 were safe and that no injuries had been reported.<\/p>\n
Malaysia Airlines apologised for the disruption and said it was arranging alternative travel for affected passengers.<\/p>\n
\u201cMeals, lounge access and hotel accommodation are being provided where applicable, while alternative travel arrangements are being made for affected passengers,\u201d the airline said, as cited from Malay Mail.<\/p>\n
Passengers will be placed on the next available flights to Kuala Lumpur, with arrangements provided according to their individual circumstances.<\/p>\n
The aircraft had been scheduled to depart Narita this morning but halted its departure and is undergoing a comprehensive technical inspection.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred at about 10.40am local time and reportedly involved black smoke coming from the aircraft as it taxied towards the runway.<\/p>\n
Japan\u2019s public broadcaster NHK reported that the incident led to a temporary closure of Narita Airport\u2019s Runway A while safety inspections were carried out.<\/p>\n
