It coincided with the Guam Hotel & Restaurant Association’s Pacific Hotel & Restaurant Expo, or PHARE.

Participating Guam businesses included Denanche’ Guam, Asiga, Everything Guam, Kingfisher’s Noni, Local Jerk Guam, The Coconut Tree Company and The Green Turtle Coffee.

“The Japan Inbound Trade Mission provides an opportunity for our Guam companies to showcase our unique, island-made products and prove that we can compete on an international stage,” Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero said. “The trade mission builds on GEDA’s initiatives in the past few years to target the Japan export market and support the growth and expansion of our local small businesses.”

The visiting businesses represented different parts of Japan’s food industry, offering Guam companies opportunities to establish relationships that could eventually put locally produced goods into the Japanese market.

Two local government representatives from the Shizuoka Prefectural Assembly also accompanied the Japanese delegation.

The trade mission included visits with Guam businesses intended to establish potential buyer-supplier relationships.
