\n EDMONTON, Canada (Kyodo) — Japanese golfer Miyu Yamashita extended her six-shot overnight lead with a 4-under-par 66 in the final round to complete a wire-to-wire victory at the CPKC Women’s Open on Sunday.
\n<\/p>\n
\n Her 23-under total of 257 matched the LPGA 72-hole scoring record and saw her finish nine strokes clear of second-place Yuri Yoshida in a 1-2 finish for Japan at Royal Mayfair Golf Club in Edmonton, Canada.
\n<\/p>\n
\n Yamashita, the 2025 Women’s British Open winner, never looked back after laying the foundation for her fourth LPGA title with a course-record 62 in the opening round.
\n<\/p>\n
\n The 25-year-old collected the winner’s check for $412,500 following her final round featuring six birdies, including the last hole, against two bogeys.
\n<\/p>\n
\n “It was a day filled with tension, but I played a really good round,” said Yamashita, who smashed the previous tournament record of 262. “I’m so glad I could finish with a birdie. I played well throughout the four days.”
\n<\/p>\n
\n One of the smallest players on the premier women’s tour at 150 centimeters, Yamashita marked her second victory of the season following her playoff win in June at the Meijer LPGA Classic.
\n<\/p>\n
\n “I’m very happy to have secured two wins this season. I want to keep working hard and aim for victory in the remaining tournaments.”
\n<\/p>\n
\n South Korea’s Kim Sei Young finished third, one stroke back from Yoshida at 13 under, while Mao Saigo was next best among the Japanese contingent at 7 under in a tie for 13th.
\n<\/p>\n
\n Yamashita, a native of Osaka Prefecture, made her full LPGA debut last year and went on to win the tour’s Rookie of the Year award. She won back-to-back overall season titles on the top Japanese women’s tour in 2022 and 2023.
