Global investment firm KKR has agreed to acquire the Japanese beauty and lifestyle platform Ci Flavors from its existing shareholders, including the consumer-focused investment firm L Catterton.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The deal will see KKR acquire Ci Flavors from all shareholders, including founder Yusaku Horiuchi, L Catterton, Ebeauty Group and Yanagi Capital Partners. Financial terms were not disclosed.<\/p>\n
Horiuchi and Ci Flavors\u2019 representative director and CEO, Yoshiaki Okura, will reinvest alongside KKR.<\/p>\n
Founded in 2011, Ci Flavors has grown into a major Japanese beauty and lifestyle brand platform, with a portfolio spanning haircare, skincare, body care and lifestyle products. Its brands include &Honey, 8 The Thalasso, Unlabel, Theratis and Moroccan Beauty.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The company operates across brand sales, OEM manufacturing, direct-to-consumer and e-commerce channels, department store retail, and global sourcing of ingredients and materials. It has established a strong presence in Japan\u2019s haircare market and has expanded its overseas sales across Asia and North America.<\/p>\n
KKR said it plans to support the company\u2019s continued growth in Japan and internationally, drawing on its consumer-sector experience, operational expertise and global network.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe look forward to working closely with the management team and leveraging KKR\u2019s global network in the consumer sector, operational expertise, and investment experience to support the company\u2019s continued growth in Japan and further expansion across international markets,\u201d said Eiji Yatagawa, partner and head of Japan Private Equity at KKR.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Ci Flavours CEO Yoshiaki Okura said the partnership would help accelerate its next phase of growth, including international and category expansion, investment in talent and organisational capabilities, and strategic M&A.<\/p>\n
