When Naomi Osaka triumphed over Serena Williams in the final of the 2018 U.S. Open, she announced herself as a new force to be reckoned with in tennis. She won the tournament again two years later and captured a couple of Australian Open titles\u2014her four grand slam wins put her in a rarefied sphere of tennis players. But the tennis circuit hasn\u2019t always been easy on the 28-year-old, and in 2021, she announced that she\u2019d be taking a hiatus from professional tennis to focus on her mental health. Osaka extended her time away from the sport after sharing that she was expecting a baby with her then-partner, rapper Cordae. Her daughter was born in July 2023.<\/p>\n
In January 2024, she returned to the tour. Initially, fans and tennis experts were concerned that she wouldn\u2019t return to the power and agility that had characterized her early career. This season, though, she\u2019s most certainly back, achieving her best-ever runs at both the French Open, where she made the fourth round, and Wimbledon, where she lost to eventual finalist Karolina Muchov\u00e1 in the quarterfinals. This week, as she returns to the U.S. Open<\/a>, expectations are high.<\/p>\n In addition to her admirable tennis abilities, the Japanese player is known for her on-court style. She plays with colors, fabrics, and silhouettes, wearing a kimono-inspired<\/a> look at Wimbledon in July, and a couture<\/a>-inspired gold dress at the French Open in June. She\u2019s also a brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton<\/a> and TAG Heuer, and is the only woman on Nike\u2019s tennis roster who receives custom looks for her tournaments, many of which she helps design. But she also brings this sense of style off the court and into her collection of homes. Her residences, from California to New York, are characterized by their elegance and visible understanding of architecture and history.<\/p>\n Below, we take a peek into Naomi Osaka\u2019s real estate portfolio.<\/p>\n Beverly Hills, California Naomi Osaka previously owned this modern home with a \u2018floating guesthouse (top right).\u2019<\/p>\n Osaka made her first major real estate investment in 2019, purchasing a house in the Beverly Hills Post Office neighborhood from Nick Jonas for $6.9 million<\/a>. The minimalist, five-bedroom home was built in 1965 and, in 2015, nightlife entrepreneur and developer Jason Lev had it redone<\/a>. He worked with architecture firm SPACE International and designers Ground Up LA to give it a sleek, mid-century modern look. The inside is full of lacquered wood details, high ceilings, and moving panels of glass that create more open or closed-off spaces dependent on the homeowner\u2019s needs. It also features a \u201cfloating guest house,\u201d which sits on a cliff, giving the appearance that nothing lies below. Osaka ultimately sold the house in August 2022 for $8.7 million to tech entrepreneur Milon Tesuvic in an off-market transaction.<\/p>\n Tarzana, California Osaka\u2019s elegant Cape Cod style home.<\/p>\n After selling her minimalist home, Osaka moved to a more traditional Cape Cod\u2013style house. She purchased the Tarzana mansion from television hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey for $6.3 million.<\/a> The five-bedroom structure features a pool set on a chessboard-like patio, a sunken tennis court, and separate guest quarters. Property photos reveal lots of cozy sofas in neutral colors, a shingled roof, and outdoor entertaining spaces. While she lived there, Osaka reportedly made significant updates to the property, adding a sauna and recovery center, which is partially why, when she sold it only three years later, she made a $1.6 million profit.<\/a> The other reason? The buyers were particularly sentimental about the property: After returning from Hawaii, the Lacheys, the house\u2019s former owners, paid $7.9 million to get their old house back.<\/p>\n Brooklyn, New York The OLYMPIA DUMBO as seen from over the Brooklyn Bridge.<\/p>\n Though Osaka was born in and plays for Japan, she spent her youth in the United States, moving from New York to Florida to improve her tennis at the age of 8. Since going pro, however, she\u2019s primarily been based in California. In the summer of 2025, after selling her Cape Cod\u2013style house back to Nick and Vanessa Lachey, it looked like she might start to put down roots in the Big Apple. Ahead of that year\u2019s U.S. Open, Osaka was spotted in DUMBO, Brooklyn, looking at condos in a luxury apartment building called the OLYMPIA DUMBO<\/a>. It was built between 2019 and 2023 and features a unique wave-like shape. Residents of the 33-floor tower have access to two pools, one indoor and one outdoor, and a tennis court.
