It&#8217;s carrying a single Strix satellite for Synspective, a Tokyo-based Earth-imaging company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">You can watch it live <a data-ylk=\"slk:via Rocket Lab;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/rocketlabcorp.com\/live-stream\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">via Rocket Lab<\/a>, beginning about 30 minutes before launch. Space.com will air the feed as well, if, as expected, Rocket Lab makes it available.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Synspective is assembling a constellation of about 30 Strix satellites in <a data-ylk=\"slk:low Earth orbit;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/low-earth-orbit\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">low Earth orbit<\/a> (LEO). These spacecraft \u2014 which are named after a widespread genus of owl \u2014 use synthetic aperture radar (SAR) to study our planet both day and night, and in all weather conditions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Strix constellation will &#8220;make it possible to quickly monitor and confirm on-the-ground changes during disasters such as earthquakes and floods at night, as well as in areas that are difficult to access,&#8221; <a data-ylk=\"slk:Synspective&#039;s website reads;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.synspective.com\/satellite\/strix-constellation\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Synspective&#8217;s website reads<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;In addition to disaster response, we will leverage our SAR <a data-ylk=\"slk:satellite;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/24839-satellites.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">satellite<\/a> capabilities to promote efficient resource utilization,&#8221; it adds. &#8220;For example, we can use our satellite data to monitor natural resources and urban development, ensuring sustainable and optimal use of land and water.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Ten Strix satellites have <a data-ylk=\"slk:reached orbit;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/space-exploration\/launches-spacecraft\/rocket-lab-ten-owl-of-ten-mission-for-synspective-launch\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">reached orbit<\/a> to date, all of them atop Electron vehicles. Rocket Lab is currently the sole launch provider for Synspective and has 16 more missions for the company on its manifest after Tuesday&#8217;s mission.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">If all goes according to plan on Tuesay, the Electron&#8217;s upper &#8220;kick stage&#8221; will deploy the Strix satellite 56 minutes after liftoff, at an altitude of 357 miles (575 kilometers).<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The 59-foot-tall (18 meters) Electron is designed to give small satellites dedicated rides to Earth orbit <a data-ylk=\"slk:and beyond;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/nasa-capstone-cubesat-moon-launch-success-rocket-lab\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">and beyond<\/a>. Tuesday&#8217;s mission, which Rocket Lab calls &#8220;Owl Around the World,&#8221; will be the rocket&#8217;s 12th of 2026 and 85th overall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Rocket Lab has also launched nine missions to date with <a data-ylk=\"slk:HASTE;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/rocket-lab-military-hypersonic-test-flight-haste\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">HASTE<\/a>, a suborbital version of Electron that allows customers to test sensors and instruments in a hypersonic flight environment.
