Australia is buying 11, New Zealand is considering putting in an order \u2013 and now, even the United States is showing interest.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">According to a US Naval Institute report published on Tuesday, government and naval planners are looking at three possibilities: Japan\u2019s Mogami-class frigates, South Korea\u2019s Chungnam guided-missile frigate and Turkey\u2019s Istanbul-class warship.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first time since World War II that a major foreign design will be built for the <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/topics\/us-navy?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">US Navy<\/a>.
