The Kakao Impact Foundation will provide citizenship education for future generations who will live in the era of artificial intelligence (AI).

The Kakao Impact Foundation announced on the 29th that it launched an expert consultative group “Good AI Network” on the 28th at the Kakao AI campus.

The consultative body is responsible for building a future generation education model for the AI era.

The Kakao Impact Foundation plans to build a new AI citizenship education model by expanding the boy digital citizenship education program ‘Good Digital World’ to the AI domain, which has been operated since 2015.

The launch of the consultative body is a follow-up measure to materialize the educational blueprint presented at the ‘Good AI Forum’ in February and to begin curriculum research in earnest.

The AI citizenship education model is characterized by the addition of metacognition and resilience in addition to the core competencies of existing digital citizenship: emotion and empathy, digital etiquette, cyber violence prevention, digital and AI literacy, privacy, copyright, and online identity.

Metacognition refers to the ability to distinguish the roles of humans and AI and critically judge AI generation results, and resilience refers to the ability to convert trial and error into learning assets even in an environment where AI quickly presents the correct answer.

The friendly AI network consultative body is divided into advisors and expert members. Advisory committee members consult on the direction of education from the perspective of AI technology, and expert committee members study educational models and curriculum to be applied to the school field through industry-academic cooperation with Seoul National University, Ewha Womans University, and Seoul National University of Education.

Lee Sang-wook, a professor at Hanyang University, Kim Eun-sol, a professor at Hanyang University, and Kim Joo-ho, a professor at KAIST, will participate as advisors along with Ryu Seok-young, chairman of Kakao Impact, and Chung Chang-woo, a professor at Seoul National University, Ok Hyun-jin, a professor at Ewha Womans University, and Kim Bong-je, a professor at Seoul National University of Education, will participate as experts.

The Kakao Impact Foundation plans to unveil the AI citizenship education model and competency measurement tool (AQ) for the first time at a symposium in October, and expand it nationwide from next year after a school field pilot operation from November to December.

Chairman Ryu Seok-young said, “Based on our 11 years of digital citizenship education experience, we will create an AI citizenship education model that can be used in the school field.”
